Royal Cremation Procession

It was amazing to join the crowds on Jalan Raya Ubud to witness the procession of two sarcophaguses from Ubud and Peliatan royalty on their way to the cremation temple. Apparently this particular ceremony has not happened within the lives of most Balinese. The whole event was a testament to the deep spiritual tradition and creative artistry of Balinese culture. We felt so fortunate to be squeezed into the tightly packed groups of people beneath a banyen tree joining them in seeing and hearing this dramatic ending for two important Ubud citizens.
